WEST MILFORD, N.J. – A specialized “Stumpboat” will soon be utilized to remove about 1,000 stumps from the bed of Greenwood Lake, which spans West Milford and Greenwood Lake, N.Y., NorthJersey.com reports.

A Georgia-based crew is slated to start using the customized boat – that can sever stumps at the roots in up to 11 feet of water – near Fox Island in June, and the process may take about three weeks, the article says.

Last year, the Greenwood Lake Commission received a $84,000 state grant to help reduce stumps in the lake, according to the article.
