Washington Township Soprano Plays Countess In 'Rigoletto'

ENGLEWOOD, N.J. — Soprano Constance Arcilla of Washington Township will perform the role of Countess Ceprano in Giuseppe Verdi’s “Rigoletto” in Englewood.

The Verismo Opera production will be staged 3:30 p.m. Oct. 23 at the Bergen Performing Arts Center, also known as bergenPAC.

The classic love tragedy centers around a curse and the promiscuous Duke of Mantua, who is attracted to Gilda, the daughter of Rigoletto, the court jester.

Arcillo teaches voice in Bergenfield at O Di Bella Music Studio.

She also is a soloist, cantor and conductor/director for the Adult, Junior and Hand Chimes Choirs at Our Lady of Mount Carmel Church in Ridgewood.

As a choir director, she conducted Mount Carmel's Adult Choir in Rome, Florence, and Venice, Italy and in other cities in Europe.

Arcillo has appeared in Verismo Opera's productions of “La Traviata,” “Rigoletto,” “Cavalleria Rusticana/Pagliaccio,” “La Boheme,” “L'Amico Fritz,” and “Madame Butterfly.”

For 35 years, she taught vocal music, choir and hand bells in the West New York School District.

She holds a bachelor’s degree in music education and a master’s degree in vocal performance from Montclair State University.
