RINGWOOD, N.J. – As New Jersey’s state budget stalemate stretched into a third day Monday, Ringwood Manor announced it would not hold its annual 4th of July Declaration of Independence reading Tuesday.
“Due to the ongoing NJ state government shutdown, the 18th Annual Declaration of Independence Reading & July 4th Celebration scheduled for tomorrow has been cancelled,” Ringwood Manor announced in a Facebook post. “We deeply apologize for any inconvenience this will cause.”
The event to commemorate the 241st anniversary of the signing of the Declaration of Independence was supposed to feature a reenactment of a traditional reading of the document, as well as a flag raising and celebratory musket firing and colonial dancing.
