HACKENSACK, N.J. — Carolers will sing as the Hackensack Main Street Business Alliance lights the city's tree on Dec. 5 at 5:30 p.m on the Courthouse Green.

The event will include free coffee, cookies, hot chocolate, popcorn, cider, photos with Santa and rides on the Hackensack Trolley.

Additional entertainment begins at 6 p.m. with the Hackensack High School Choir and the cast of Elephant and Piggie’s “We Are in a Play!”

There will be a message from Mayor John P. Labrosse, Jr., followed by the tree lighting and a visit from Santa, who will pose with children for free photos (courtesy of Stop & Shop).

The Johnson Public Library will be giving away 250 free children’s books.

Parking will be available at the Municipal Parking Lot (corner of Moore & Bridge Streets), the Atlantic Street Parking Deck (Atlantic between Main & State), as well as on the street.
