Smaller packages -- one bag or less -- can be dropped off in the bobby of City Hall, 65 Central Ave., during the week, during normal business hours. Larger items -- like cases of water, tents and cots -- can be dropped off at the Building Department, 410 East Railroad Ave., off Passaic Street, on Sunday, May 1, from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m
Here is a list that the consulate has requested:
- blankets and pillows
- tents and cots
- canned goods and powdered milk
- drinks/water -- no glass containers
- toiletries, like toothpaste and bar soap, and toilet paper
- sanitary napkins
- disposable diapers, baby wipes, baby food and formula
- syringes, IV tubing, gauze and over-the-counter medicine
- cotton balls, bandages, gloves, alcohol, repellents and sunscreen
- Red Cross solar radios
- flashlights, solar flashlights
- candles
- nets
- plastic dishes, cutlery and cups (not disposable)
- towels
- batteries, duct tape and cardboard boxes
- industrial-size plastic trash bags
- snacks like nutritional bars and nuts
- clothing, shoes of all sizes and baseball caps
- toys in good condition, including crayons, comic books and small paper books
- food supply kits, like rice, grains, sugar, canned goods that open easily, oil, noodles, crackers
- new pots and pans
"Thank you for your support in bringing relief to people in need," organizers noted.
