The gathering is called "A Time Of Prayer and Reflection for a Nation on the Edge."
The deaths of Alton Sterling, Philando Castile, and the five police officers in Dallas prompted Jackson to invite rabbis, imams, pastors, police officials, and community leaders to the event.
“I just feel our nation is on the edge,” said Jackson. “What happened in Texas, Florida, Louisiana, and Minnesota could easily happen here.
“People are wondering, Where’s the justice? We have to talk through the pain of the nation,” he added. “We are not exempt from it.”
The vigil is to take place at the church's Logan Family Life Center at 274 Central Ave.
It is being sponsored by the Fellowship of Black Churches of Hackensack and Vicinity, the National Association for the Advancement of Colored People, and Hackensack city officials.
