HACKENSACK, N.J. -- Award-winning organist Davis Badaszewski will perform a recital Sunday at Holy Trinity R.C. Church in Hackensack.
The performance, a benefit for the church's Kilgen organ, will include works by Bach, Brahms, Vierne, Rorem, Ward and more.
Badaszewsk, who's currently a student at the Eastman School of Music and the 2015 recipient of the Ridgewood Choral's Music Award, began playing organ at 14.
He is a VanDelinder Fellow at Christ Church Episcopal (Rochester, N.Y.) and a music intern at Saint Bartholomew's Church (New York City).
Badaszewski is the recipient of many awards recognizing his musical talents, including the Saddle River Day School 2014 Mark G. Eckstein Music Scholarship, the 2015 Margaret Hsaio Scholarship awarded by First Presbyterian Church (Rutherford), and the aforementioned Ridgewood Choral Florence Reinauer Memorial Music Award, when he was featured performer at the Choral's 87th annual concert at West Side Presbyterian Church (Ridgewood).
Badaszewski is a member of the American Guild of Organists and sits on the executive committee of the North New Jersey Chapter.
He attended the Royal School of Church Music Newport Course as an organ scholar in August 2015.
Prior to beginning his studies at Eastman in the studio of David Higgs, Badaszewski was a student of William Trafka, director of music at St. Bartholomew's.
Badaszewski hopes to pursue advanced degrees in his field and be a music director of a large metropolitan church one day. To learn more about the organist, click here.
